I guess I should have included that I am physically unable to use the buttons on my controller. I use the keyboard to put the car in 1st gear, then I only use the controller for gas/brake (push forward or pull back) and steering.

First off, excuse me if this has been discussed and I didn't see it.

My question is would it be possible to re-enable the ability for drivers who are using auto-shift to be able to build the revs before the start of a race? As it is now (since Patch U) I have to put it in 1st gear, then sit there with engine idling waiting for the green light instead of being able to build the revs (like everyone around me does) before the start. It is a big disadvantage, especially when driving the less powerful cars or the cars with turbos...it takes them forever to get off the line.

Please just consider putting it back into LFS.

My race started out ok, but got progressively worse due to physical conditions, so I hope I didn't hold anyone up. My main goal was to finish the race and collect points.

Hopefully I am recovered well enough to do better at South City.

Yes, that's true. I was watching my mirrors, too much maybe. But I didn't want to be in the way of someone ahead of me. So I got a little too close the edge of the track while I was trying to stay out of the way and dropped a tire in the dirt.

My apologies, but every time I see a thread of this subject I get the impression that most (able-bodied) people would be happy if the devs would take the auto-gears option out of LFS. Becky, not everyone that uses auto-shift is a wrecker. And there are some people in the lfs community that are physically unable to shift manually.

That was me.

When I was able to get in the draft I didn't want to hit someone in the rear, so I lifted a bit off the throttle. Then I would lose too much momentum to catch back up to the draft.

I use auto gearbox out of necessity, not because I choose to use it. I would rather be able to shift manually, but I am physically unable to shift my self, so the auto gearbox is what I have to use in order to race.

I use a joystick for a controller. Once I find a setup that feels stable, then I have to start messing with the gear ratios, but I'm not that smart yet. Right now it's pretty much trial and error as far as getting the gears so that they are decent.
